Method presentation

Many microalgae are produced in our laboratory. At the beginning of each project, the wastewater of the industry is transferred to the laboratory to investigate its physicochemical characteristics. The appropriate species of the algae is cultivated in the wastewater or its optimum condition may be produced. The suitable medium is prepared for the algae as well. The reproductive features of the algae are studied in the wastewater. Overall results from the laboratory studies, which last 10 days, will be used to design a suitable water treatment station that fits the volume of the wastewater and its contaminates behavior . As it may be considered, for each type of wastewater, specific treatment may be needed. Plant and implementation design will also be adapted to the kind of treatment.

The wastewater from the following industries can be treated through the algae cultivation:

  • Industrial abattoirs
  • Domestic and urban wastewater
  • Domestic wastewater before delivering to the wastewater treatment network
  • Wastewater from dairy industries including milk or saline wastewater from cheese factories
  • Wastewater of cement factories
  • Wastewater of textile factories containing dye
  • Wastewater of agricultural industries including raisins, beverage and fish processing plants
  • Wastewater from the industries of wheat or barley manufacturing
  • Wastewater from starch and gluten producing industries
  • Wastewater from sugar industries
  • Wastewater from the industries that produce metallic waste like foundries, etc…

The algae can be used to remove the odor industrial towns that are in the vicinity of cities.

  • The system is robust and last for years (at least 15 years without a need for reconstruction due to tolerance of different parts)

  • The treated water can be used for horticulture, fish culture and in some cases to drinking water.

The treated water can be used in the industry and therefore decrease the need for water to save the costs
